Message to Graduate Students & Instructors
At the Kobe University Graduate School of Human Development and Environment, the project "Giving Substance to Graduate School Education through Activities Outside the Standard Curriculum" was selected as a Graduate School GP Project. A point of focus during the review of this project was the development in graduate students that occurs during a variety of civil activities and community activities between the Osaka and Kobe areas. A major factor in the selection of this project was the declaration of importance regarding the need for graduate students to study not only in an academic environment. It is also important for graduate students to further refine their studies amongst regional communities, together with the movement of regional society and together with community members. The university and the community (NPOs, government agencies, corporations, and other schools) are expected to cooperate in order to create a system for the development of the next generation of outstanding researchers and practitioners.
By the 2009 academic year, we shall give actual substance to this original and creative project model. In addition to the support of university instructors and staff, the support of graduate students is also essential. Furthermore, the warm support of persons outside of the university is also necessary. The Graduate School GP Project "Giving Substance to Graduate School Education through Activities Outside the Standard Curriculum" of this graduate school seeks to create a new type of education that is built upon the spirit of cooperation.
